You will need:

• A Printer
• Printer Paper
• Scissors
• Pen or Pencil
• Thick craft paper of desired color to make hat
• Ribbon or Trim for decorating
• Elastic band
• Tiny hole punch or toothpick
• Hot Glue Gun

1. Download & print this Mermaid Party Hat Template PDF.
2. Cut out the template.
3. Place template on “back side” of the paper you will be using to create your hat & trace lightly with a pen. 
4. Cut out the design you traced. Use a toothpick or a hole punch to create a small hole on each of the “x’s” for the strap. 
5. Gently roll the sides of your hat together to create a cone shape. Use the hot glue gun to glue the seam together in the back.
6. Now string the elastic through the holes you created in step 4, and tie small knots on the outside to secure the elastic in place. You should check that the size fits your baby’s head before tying both knots. 
7. Add trim by cutting your ribbon to fit around the base of your party hat and securing it in place with the hot glue gun.
8. Embellish with any other decorations you may have like gemstones, pompoms, stickers, or paint!
9. Don’t forget to make mermaid tail party hats for each of her friends! Now you can party like a mermaid!
