“Perched Mermaid” pose can be deceptively simple- the pose is easy, but finding the right angle to shoot from can be challenging.

This pose encompasses any position where you are laying on your stomach with your fluke down. Photos of this pose are typically taken from behind or from the side, and from a higher camera angle to capture the fluke & tail.

As a mermaid model, I like to find something in my environment to perch on, like a boulder, angled so that my upper body is at a higher level than my tail. This allows the photographer to take photos at eye-level, while still capturing the full mermaid tail.

I find that arching your back makes for a really pretty photo! Look back at the camera and drop the shoulder you are peeking over so that you don’t lose your chin & neck. You can also lay down fully and rest your head on your arms or your environment.
