Magical Mermaid Moments: The Best Videos of SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium Mermaid Shows 2023

In October of 2023, I toured with Wands and Wishes Mermaids in their Sea Life Orlando Aquarium mermaid shows! For two weeks, I got to swim in one of their huge ocean exhibits and perform for crowds as they wandered through the aquarium tunnels. *A literal dream come true!* 🥺 I had so many incredible experiences swimming with live sea creatures while engaging with humans on the other side of the glass. I will cherish many of these magical moments forever, and I am lucky enough to have a few of these memories captured on camera to share with you! The following videos capture some of my favorite human & animal interactions from my time on tour as a mermaid performer at Sea Life Orlando Aquarium! I hope they bring you as much joy as they continue to bring me!

PSST… I’m touring again soon!

Mermaid Jules will be swimming to Newport Aquarium June 5th-11th, 2024!
Meet Jules at this AZA accredited aquarium located in Newport, KY just across the river from downtown Cincy!
Hope to see you there!

This video was filmed during my first weekend as an aquarium mermaid performer and was one of the first videos I watched of myself performing. Seeing the genuine reactions this of little girl melted my heart and made me appreciate all the hard work that went into attaining this aquarium mermaid job. It revealed to me things I need to work on as a performer and also assured me that what I am doing is also already enough to make someone’s day magical! I hope this little girl remembers this magical moment forever! In that moment, with her hands pressed against the glass, her excitement gave me full confidence that I was exactly where I was meant to be!

Little boy infatuated by silly mermaid!

I love the reactions from this little boy when he met me at Sea Life Orlando Aquarium! He pressed his little hands on the glass window to meet mine, then began mimicking the heart shape I made with my hands. The boy spins and jumps with joy as the mermaid swims to the top of the tunnel overhead. She turns tail and flips upside down then makes silly faces as she trails back down the glass! The little boy stomps and laughs, playing with the mermaid!

Agave the Shark is the owner of this house… We’re just swimming in it!

Over the course of my two weeks performing at the aquarium, the zebra sharks in the exhibit grew increasingly comfortable with the mermaids. The shark seen in this video, named Agave, was extra curious about the mermaids swimming in her home. During my performances, she would circle me and on occasion even nudge me! You can see how she would swoop in and cut me off in the opening of this clip. We are trained not to touch the animals, so that’s why you can see me swiftly stop swimming and bring my hands in extra close to my body as soon as I notice the shark.

This has to be one of my favorite videos ever because it features one of my favorite people ever: my biggest supporter and bestest friend, my sister Angie!! Yep, this is my real life, human sister! We are practically inseparable so I truly missed her while I was touring at SEA LIFE Aquarium. I was so excited when she drove up to Orlando to see me swim during my aquarium mermaid shows! Though its difficult to see underwater, I could feel her vibrant energy through the glass- and I hope you can feel it through this video! 🥰

This video was filmed in the 180 degree tunnel, which has a low aquarium wall at the base, perfect for hiding behind and playing peek-a-boo with guests! Here you can see me popping up to surprise some folks with big smiles, waves hello and of course, bubble kisses!

Swimming in the aquarium is pretty cold, but nothing warms you up like a hug from the other side of the glass! Do you recognize the human in this video?? It’s my mer-bestie Brandee, the Vero Beach Mermaid! We were on tour together for one weekend and it was a blast! She was such an amazing cheerleader coming out to support the other mermaids on their swims! Here you can see her cheering me on and getting a mermaid hug in the 360 degree tunnel! Did you notice the shark nudge my fin like, “hey I want hugs, too!”

Make sure each one gets a bubble kiss or two! I had to go down the line and blow a kiss to each little girl to make sure they felt the love! Also its adorable how they try to mimic the mermaid, waving and blowing kisses back to me! As an aquarium mermaid performer, I love big crowds. Even though the sound is muffled through the thick glass and water, you can feel the energy and hear some of the louder squeals of excitement!

Here’s a full view of Mermaid Jules, unobstructed by other people, to give you a real POV as if you were actually at the aquarium! Hope to see you at the next one, but if there are circumstances where you can’t make it, I do hope these videos bring you happiness!

Don’t Spin in the Aquarium Tunnels… 😳

First off, this video gives you a good idea of what I mean when I say “aquarium tunnels.” This video was filmed in Sea Life Orlando’s 360 degree tunnel that travels directly through their ocean exhibit. This completely unobstructed view and the ability to swim overhead, easily made this tunnel one of my favorite spaces to perform in front of during aquarium mermaid shows.
