Cute Starfish Wishing Wand DIY
Learn how to make a pixie dust wand that shakes real glitter, fit for a mermaid!
Starfish Wishing Wands make a great addition to any party performer’s kit, and they’re so fun to make! I found these adorable salt and pepper wand shakers on Amazon and bedazzled them with whatever spare shells, gems, and sparkly ribbons I had lying around! I’ve linked some of those supplies as well, but feel free to seek colors and charms that speak to your personal style as well!
Starfish wishing wands add the perfect ending to a mermaid makeover, but also make for a magical moment all on its own! TO USE: Have the little one think about their wish, then sprinkle them with glitter while saying some magic words like “Make a wish upon a starfish!” Watch their eyes grow when they realize they’ve been dusted in glitter! ✨

You will need: Wand-shaped Salt and Pepper Shakers, Starfish, a Hot Glue gun, and fine glitter to make a pixie dust wand.

Starfish Wishing Wand Tutorial
Before you begin: Be mindful of where the glitter pours out of the holes and where wand opens for glitter refills, and decorate in a way that keeps both areas accessible.
1. Use a hot glue gun to adhere a starfish onto the star shaker at the top of the wand.
You can line the starfish arms up to the star or offset them for a fuller look! Make sure the shaker holes are facing down, add hot glue to to top of the star shaker, and center the starfish on top as desired.
2. Accessorize your wand with rhinestones, shells, ribbons, and more!
As you can see, there are so many ways to decorate your pixie dust wand. I like to bedazzle my starfish with rhinestones, then add a little pizzaz to the bottom of the wand’s handle. You can attach seashells or crystals to the wand’s end to balance the weight. You can wrap the handle with jute rope or sparkly ribbon to add strength to the bond. Top this with even more charms or rhinestones to add character!
3. Once your happy with your design, fill your wand with glitter and go spread some sparkles!
Gently open the wand by grasping the star topper and starfish firmly in the center and gently twisting away the handle. Use a funnel to partially fill the star shaker with glitter, then replace the handle. Do not overfill or the glitter will be falling out constantly if you store it standing upright in a pencil holder, for instance.
