In the market for a new Mermaid Top?
Whether you need a new mermaid top to go with the mermaid tail you just ordered or are doing your research to decide which mermaid bra to invest in next, you’ve come to the right place! Hobbyist & professionals alike need a nice mermaid top to complete their mermsona ensemble- but depending on your needs, it doesn’t have to be expensive. A hobbyist planning a photoshoot may spend $25-$60 on an Amazon set, while a professional mermaid performing at live events may spend $500-$900 on a silicone mermaid top alone. I’ve gathered a list of my favorite mermaid tops, based on either experience or aesthetics (some tops I have owned or worn, while others I would recommend purely on appearances & brand reputation). If you have experience with any of these top makers, or have another favorite top maker, let’s discuss in the comment section!
Shop for a Silicone Mermaid Top from a Creator
Silicone bras are flexible and typically comfortable while offering support and allowing for really unique designs!
In terms of quality, brand recognition, and years of experience in the industry, the top 3 silicone mermaid top makers are Finfolk Productions, Merbella Studios, and Mermaid Kariel. These artists will drop small quantities of their handmade silicone mermaid tops, and *may* take on a limited number of custom orders, so be sure to follow their social pages to get notified for new releases!
Finfolk Productions
Finfolk Productions has so many gorgeous designs featuring whimsical sea creatures such as leafy sea dragons, nautilus, octopus & even kelpies (water horses)! Finfolk is known for their stunning sculpts and vibrant paint jobs. Mermaid Kariel
Mermaid Kariel’s designs her Tops of Art to make you feel beautifully supported while giving you that “nearly-bare freedom mermaids love.” Many of her hand-sculpted designs feature different styles of shells, seaweeds, and scales. Her color palettes are often pastels and soft tropical colors, though she’s mixed in some darker batches occasionally. Each top comes with her signature mid-range tan mesh straps, in a shade that “blends seamlessly across a wide range of complexions.”

Shop for a Mermaid Bra on Amazon
While not explicitly mermaid themed, these body chains are giving siren core.
Amazon always comes in clutch when I’m in a pinch. If you procrastinate on a DIY project or just need a relatively cheap option for a mermaid top, Amazon can be a great solution. This blingy body chain set is very inexpensive to get just the bra top, but I think its worth it to get the full set (including the waist-belt) so that the full mermaid look is tied together from top to tail! While I find this top to be perfect for a photoshoot, I would not recommend it for performance based gigs.
Pros: Looks stunning! Photographs beautifully! Speedy shipping.
Cons: Degrades quickly (though I did get mine a little wet + sweaty), Limited mobility/ the chain breaks easily if you put it on too tight/ take too deep of a breath in. It’s easily fixable but it’s annoying to have your top snap off mid shoot!
DIY – Make your own Mermaid Top!
Crafty queens make their own mermaid tops!
The easiest way to make your own mermaid top is to start with a good bra base that provides coverage & support, and of course, swims well. From there you can choose how you’d like to decorate and the materials you will use. With little to no experience, I would recommend starting with fabric, beading, or glue-able bedazzling designs, as opposed to silicone. These materials are typically cheaper than silicone and often more forgiving if you make a mistake. Even still, I like to consult several tutorials before investing in materials for a project so I feel extra prepared. I’ve included some of my favorite DIY mermaid top tutorials below:
