Disney sent me a Singing Box
to Celebrate The Little Mermaid’s 30th Anniversary

Disney makes everything magical- but I never expected this!

As a girl who grew up on Disney magic, I cannot describe to you the thrill I got the first time I was contacted by Disney.  I trembled with excitement opening the email.  This was the BIG one.  I couldn’t believe Disney wanted to send a PR package to ME.  All to celebrate the 30th Anniversary & upcoming release of Disney’s The Little Mermaid on digital, 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray.  Dreams DO come true!  I knew this unboxing would be absolutely magical, but when the package arrived, I never expected this…

When the package arrived I could barely contain my excitement! I set up for an instagram live stream so my followers could join in on the experience in realtime.

Upon opening the package, I immediately noticed a pale purple mermaid box inside. Isn’t it the most wonderful thing you’ve ever seen?! It’s pastel, it’s purple, it looks like water glistening! It features Ariel’s castle & all your favorite characters from the little mermaid like Ariel, Flounder, & Sebastian. And you don’t even discover the best part until you open it… But first…

A Note from Disney

Like ignoring the money in a birthday card from a relative, I had to avert my eyes from the beautiful purple box and take a minute to read the letter first. There was a printed note that announced the release of Disney’s The Little Mermaid 30th Anniversary edition on Blu-ray.

“Celebrate some childhood nostalgia. Relax, put up your fin, and plunge into an undersea voyage with Ariel, and your favorite characters. Enjoy a mer-movie night!”

Oh and one more thing that was just outside of the purple box- this gorgeous purse!! This Danielle Nicole “The Little Mermaid” Tote bag is beautiful! It features simulated leather grain in Navy and a multicolored neon line art cutout details of Ariel.  I love the iconic movie scene that they chose to spotlight: Ariel sits on her rock with the moon setting behind her!

The BOX

IT IS TIME! Time to open the purple box. It is stunning from the outside… but the real magic happens when you open it up! It’s definitely a moment best watched. Oh and don’t forget to turn your volume up!

That’s right! When you open the box, IT SINGS! Now I have Ariel’s voice trapped in a box forever (and Ursula’s too!) Whenever the box is opened, the sequence where Ariel gives her voice to Ursula plays. Ariel sings heavenly as Ursula shouts “Keep singing!” CHILLS!

I will NEVER get over that singing box… but after listening to it a couple more times, I managed to compose myself and continue with the unboxing video!

The Movie: Disney’s The Little Mermaid 30th Anniversary Edition

I pulled back the blue tissue paper printed with shells, to reveal The Little Mermaid 30th anniversary edition, coming out on February 26th!  I love this classic Disney movie: the music, the characters, the colors! This release is part of Disney’s signature collection , and the blu-ray includes bonus features such as singalong mode, and behind the scenes footage of cast members.

Colourpop Cosmetics Ariel Makeup Collection

I love the Colourpop Cosmetics Ariel Makeup Collection! It comes with 3 pieces, a lipstick in “Ariel,” a lip gloss in “Guppy,” and some eye shadow in “Under the Sea.” The lipstick is a neutral red with a hint of brown, the gloss is nude, and the eye shadow is a shocking electric blue!

The packaging is also super cute! The box that the make up came in has a version of Ariel the looks very 80’s and Madonna-esque. She wears a scale corset and fishnet handgloves. The lipstick is gold with all the Disney princess’s autographs engraved in it. The eyeshadow itself is scale textured.

Mermaid Bark

White chocolate flavored bark magically swirled with colorful whosits and whatsits galore, candy pearls, and chocolate.  With pastel swirls of pink. blue, yellow and green, this colorful chocolate bark is almost too pretty to eat! *Update* while it is very beautiful, it also happens to be too tasty to not eat. In fact, I ate the whole thing! Disney always makes the best sweets and confectioneries.

Ariel Dinner Glass Set

I love when you can dress up Disney, and these etched dinner glasses add the perfect touch of fun to a fancy dinner or brunch! I like the pose they chose for the etched silhouette- an out of water scene with Ariel’s fluke raised over her head. They usually stick to the silhouette of Ariel swimming up to the surface, so I appreciated the unique design. Also love that they sent a set of two!

Ok Disney really got me with these dinglehopper makeup brushes! I love the iconic dinglehopper scene where Scuttle explains to Ariel how humans use forks to brush and “straighten their hair out.” Destination Disney ran with this idea and made these adorable fork-shaped makeup brushes. This set of four beauty utensils (get it?) includes one powder brush, two eye shadow brushes, and one lip brush. The brushes are engraved with the phrase “gadgets and gizmos” and are bedazzled with pearls, starfish, and shells! The brushes are super soft and have vibrant purple tips.

Ariel Bracelet by Alex and Ani

I am obsessed with this Ariel bangle by Alex and Ani! It has a teal charm on it featuring The Little Mermaid, joined by her fishy friend Flounder and the quote ”Follow your dreams wherever they lead.” Disney sent me the beautiful silver one, but I checked on their website and found out it comes in a gold finish, too!

Ursula Shell Locket by RockLove Jewelry

The Ursula Shell Locket by RockLove Jewelry is a total show-stopper! I was shook opening the box.

“Sculpted in sterling silver and clad with 14K yellow gold, Ursula’s iconic nautilus shell necklace contains a secret; a hinged door releases Ariel’s voice trapped within! The design is true to the film, from the gold shell color to the to the black satin cord from which it hangs. This is probably my favorite gift Disney sent (besides the singing box itself) and I think it would make a great gift for any The Little Mermaid lover.

I couldn’t be more grateful to have been a part of this collaboration with Disney to “shell-abrate” the 30th Anniversary of The Little Mermaid! As a kid, I watched this movie and longed to experience mermaid life the way Ariel craved a life on land. I can definitely relate to Ariel, understanding that with a lot of determination and a little creative thinking and a splash of risk, you can make your dreams come true! I love living my mermaid lifestyle and feel so honored and happy to be recognized by Disney! Opening this mermaid package was truly magical and definitely a high I will be chasing for a long time.
